Description:Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items as directed by senior chefs. Perform basic food preparation tasks (chopping, marinating, portioning, mixing, etc.). Ensure all dishes are prepared consistently and meet presentation standards. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workstation at all times. Follow all hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards (HACCP compliance). Assist in receiving, packing, and rotating stock (FIFO system). Support the team during service to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Report any shortages, equipment issues, or safety concerns to the Head/Sous Chef. Uphold portion control and minimise waste. Assist with washing up and general kitchen duties when required.
Requirements:
Relevant culinary certificate or basic chef training (preferred). 12 years of experience in a professional kitchen (advantage, not always required). Knowledge of basic cooking methods, food handling, and kitchen hygiene. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills. Willingness to learn, take instruction, and grow in the culinary field.
