Our client, the established and renowned Supreme Upholstery, a specialist manufacturer in high-quality cabinetry and upholstery based in the heart of Stellenbosch , has a vacancy for an experienced Factory Manager.
The Factory Manager will be responsible for operational leadership across multiple production departments, ensuring that manufacturing targets are met, quality standards are upheld, and teams are effectively guided and developed. The role requires strong managerial capability, hands-on understanding of cabinetry and upholstery production, and the ability to drive output in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities will include: *Leadership and Production Management: Overseeing approximately seven departmental supervisors and a workforce of roughly 100 employees; Managing daily production workflows, resolving bottlenecks, and ensuring optimal utilisation of resources; Maintaining consistent quality across cabinetry and upholstery processes; Implementing production schedules and driving adherence to timelines. * Operational Efficiency: Monitoring production targets, identifying performance deviations, and implementing corrective actions; Analysing operational reports and applying strategies to improve efficiency and output; Ensuring equipment, tools, and materials are managed effectively to minimise downtime. *People Management: Creating a performance-driven environment while maintaining strong interpersonal relationships; Coaching and developing supervisors to ensure high levels of competence and accountability; Managing conflict, building team cohesion, and ensuring effective communication throughout the factory. *Compliance and Standards: Ensuring adherence to occupational health and safety requirements; Maintaining all company policies and operational procedures within the factory environment; Enforcing quality-control measures and continuous improvement practices.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
• Matric required; a relevant technical or management qualification will be advantageous;
• Minimum 7–10 years’ management experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within cabinetry, upholstery, or related production fields;
• Strong leadership capability with proven experience overseeing large teams;
• Target-driven mindset with excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills;
• A people-focused manager with strong communication and relationship-building abilities;
• Solid understanding of production flow, quality control, and factory operations;
• Good computer literacy.
