DescriptionSSK currently has a career opportunity available in its Information Technology Department, Humansdorp. The Infrastructure Technician will provide technical support and maintain the IT infrastructure for our operations in Humansdorp. The ideal candidate will troubleshoot hardware, software, and basic network issues, ensure system security, support end-users, and collaborate with teams in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and basic network problems for desktops, laptops, servers, and peripherals.
- Install, configure, and update operating systems, applications, and security software.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to staff, including training on IT best practices.
- Perform routine backups, data recovery, and system upgrades to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with senior IT staff and the dedicated network team on projects like system migrations or cybersecurity enhancements.
- CompTIA A+ and N+ certifications are highly important.
- 3-5 years of experience in IT support or a similar role.
- Proficiency in Windows/Linux OS, Microsoft Office 365 (including Outlook 365 for desktop support), Microsoft Teams, and basic networking tools (e.g., TCP/IP, VPN).
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and hardware repair.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently, and excellent teamwork abilities are essential.
- General knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) systems is key; familiarity with ConnectWise is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of MS SQL is a plus.
- Willingness to work after hours when overtime is approved on a project.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally as needed.
