Receiving / Driver (code 14 & PDP)Our client in the galvanizing industry is on a recruitment drive for a code 14 driver (PDP). The ideal candidate will be required to sleep over in Cape Town during the week trips - however will be home every weekend (George).The client provides a Container Home and ablution facilities (on-site in Cape Town) for overnight trips.Duties and Responsibilities:Collection & Delivery OperationsCollect raw steel materials from designated suppliers or client sites in George and surrounding areas.Transport raw steel safely to the galvanizing plant according to planned schedules.Load and secure steel materials in compliance with load safety regulations.Deliver completed, galvanized products back to the client or warehouse on time.Offload materials/products safely using correct equipment and procedures.Vehicle Operation & Road SafetyOperate a Code 14 truck in line with traffic regulations and company safety standards.Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections (tyres, brakes, hydraulics, lights, etc.).Report any mechanical issues immediately and ensure the vehicle remains roadworthy.Drive defensively and maintain proper following distances, especially under heavy load.Documentation & ComplianceComplete delivery notes, collection receipts, job cards, and required paperwork accurately.Maintain logbooks, fuel records, and route sheets.Ensure compliance with weighbridge requirements and steel handling regulations.Load Handling & SafetyOversee proper strapping, chaining, or securing of steel loads to prevent shifting.Maintain awareness of load weight distribution and legal road limits.Follow all safety protocols for handling raw and galvanized steel.Customer InteractionRepresent the company professionally during collections and deliveries.Communicate clearly with clients and production staff about quantities, timelines, and special requirements.Address any collection or delivery discrepancies immediately.General SupportAssist with basic yard ...
