The client is seeking a Principal Investment Officer: Trade Finance to lead the development, systems setup, and execution of structured and non-structured trade finance transactions. The ideal candidate will combine strategic foresight with practical transaction execution expertise and will thrive in high-level stakeholder environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement the Trade Finance strategy and operational framework Lead the execution of complex trade finance transactions, from origination through to closure Conduct detailed market research to guide product development and market positioning Collaborate with credit risk, compliance, legal, treasury, and external partners to deliver sound financial solutions Cultivate strong relationships with exporters, banks, DFIs, and other stakeholders across the trade finance value chain Champion innovation, governance, and risk management to ensure institutional compliance and portfolio healthIdeal Candidate Profile:
Postgraduate qualification in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering or similar (CA, CFA, MBA, MSc preferred) Minimum 8 years senior-level experience in Trade Finance, Structured Trade, or Commodity Finance within a DFI, bank, or investment context Proven success in leading deal teams and closing structured transactions Advanced knowledge of financial markets, infrastructure development, and regulatory environments Exceptional stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills across the African continent EE Disclaimer:
