The Wildlife Coordinator is responsible for implementing and overseeing core conservation initiatives, wildlife monitoring, and ecological management within a private reserve environment. This role ensures that conservation practices align with the organisations mission, while supporting sustainable ecosystem health and the effective management of wildlife populations.Candidate Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive conservation strategies aligned with organisational goals. Conduct biodiversity assessments, monitor wildlife populations, and track ecosystem health and rehabilitation progress. Lead environmental awareness initiatives and promote eco-friendly and sustainable practices. Manage, analyse, and report on conservation project data for internal and external stakeholders. Supervise and train conservation team members, fostering collaboration and professional growth. Oversee rewilding and habituation processes for wildlife across the property.
Core Criteria:
Bachelors degree in Wildlife Conservation or a related field. Proven experience in wildlife conservation, game reserve management, breeding, and hunting environments. Strong project management skills and experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating conservation initiatives. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and clearly present conservation objectives. Sound understanding of local flora, fauna, and conservation challenges relevant to the region. FGASA certification advantageous. Strong maintenance knowledge. Telemetry and wildlife tracking experience advantageous. Dangerous game behavioural knowledge. Competency in analytical and scientifically based wildlife management.This is a live-in position.
