A Spa Therapist is responsible for delivering professional wellness, beauty, and body treatments to guests in a relaxing and therapeutic environment. This role focuses on exceptional guest service, maintaining high hygiene standards, and supporting the spa’s daily operations. The Spa Therapist ensures each client receives a personalised and rejuvenating experience that aligns with the spa’s brand standards.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide a range of spa treatments, including:Massages (Swedish, deep tissue, aromatherapy, etc.)Facials and skincare treatmentsBody scrubs and wrapsManicures and pedicures (if required)Reflexology (if qualified)Create a welcoming and serene experience for all guests.Conduct consultations to determine clients’ needs, preferences, and any contraindications.Recommend suitable treatments, products, and aftercare.Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all treatment rooms and equipment.Uphold hygiene and safety protocols according to industry standards.Assist with spa reception duties when needed (bookings, client check-in).Promote and upsell spa retail products.Prepare treatment rooms before each guest and reset rooms after treatments.Assist in managing treatment schedules to maximise efficiency.Participate in ongoing training and professional development.Report any stock shortages, equipment issues, or guest concerns.Support the Spa Manager and team in ensuring smooth daily operations. Qualifications & Experience- Diploma/Certificate in Beauty Therapy, Massage Therapy, or Spa Therapy (e.g., CIDESCO, ITEC, SAAHSP).
- Minimum 1–2 years experience in a spa, wellness centre, hotel, or lodge environment.
- Strong knowledge of massage techniques, skincare, and wellness practices.
- Experience with spa products and retail sales (advantageous).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong customer service orientation with a calm, caring, and professional demeanour.
- Ability to assess guest needs and tailor treatments accordingly.
- High attention to detail and personal presentation.
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy, high-end spa environment.
- Strong organisation and time-management skills.
- Team player with a positive and supportive attitude.
- Confidence in promoting and upselling spa treatments and products.
- Understanding of hygiene, sanitation, and safety practices.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Strength and stamina to perform back-to-back treatments.
- Good hand coordination and physical fitness.
- Flexible schedule including weekends, public holidays, and occasional evenings.
- Work in a tranquil spa environment within a hotel, resort, or game lodge.
