Position: Occupational Health Nurse

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Health Nurse to join our healthcare team. As an Occupational Health Nurse, you will play a crucial role in promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of employees within our organization. You will be responsible for providing occupational health services, conducting health assessments, and implementing wellness programs to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Responsibilities:
Conduct health screenings and assessments for employees, including pre-employment screenings, health risk assessments, and immunizations.
Develop and implement health promotion and wellness programs to improve employee health and productivity.
Provide first aid and emergency care to employees as needed.
Collaborate with management to develop and implement policies and procedures related to occupational health and safety.
Conduct investigations into workplace accidents and injuries, and provide recommendations for prevention.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records for all employees.
Educate employees on health and safety practices to promote a culture of well-being within the organization.
Collaborate with healthcare providers and external agencies to ensure comprehensive occupational health services.
Key Skills:
Registered Nurse (RN) license with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Occupational Health Nursing preferred.
Proven experience working in occupational health or a related field within the healthcare industry.
Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, as well as current healthcare practices and trends.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of employees and healthcare professionals.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess and address complex health issues in the workplace.
Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN) or Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN-S) preferred.

Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health Nursing.
Current CPR certification.
Clinical Skills:
Experience in assessing and treating work-related injuries and illnesses.
Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
Ability to conduct health assessments and screenings.
Competence in managing immunization programs and health promotion initiatives.
Familiarity with disability management and return-to-work programs.
Communication and Collaboration:
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse populations.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to educate and counsel employees on health-related issues.
Collaborative attitude towards working with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, safety professionals, and HR personnel.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking:
Analytical mindset to assess workplace hazards and recommend solutions.
Decision-making skills in emergency situations or when providing treatment recommendations.
Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage competing demands.
Compliance and Documentation:
Understanding of legal requirements and regulations related to occupational health and safety.
Proficiency in maintaining accurate medical records and documentation.
Knowledge of confidentiality laws and ethical standards in healthcare.
Continuous Learning and Professional Development:
Commitment to staying updated on industry trends and best practices in occupational health nursing.
Participation in ongoing training and professional development activities.
Willingness to adapt to changing healthcare policies and procedures.
