Duties and responsibilities:

• Inspect the delivery vehicle for any maintenance needs and report defects.

• Maintain a clean and organised vehicle.

• Confirm delivery of products by obtaining a signature.

• Knowledge of how to handle materials safely, such as medicines, samples or chemicals.

• Have familiarity with using navigation systems and reading maps.

• Manage time to ensure deliveries are made on schedule - for local and national deliveries.

• Load and unload cargo and delicate equipment.

• Fill and collect liquid nitrogen as per set procedures and safety requirements.

• Run official African Medicines Innovations and Technologies Development (AMITD) errands and messenger services.

• Assist on daily AMITD duties and activities - messenger work and ad hoc duties.

• Perform general support duties for the AMITD team, including but not limited to:

o Assist with laboratory housekeeping (e.g., moving equipment, arranging storage areas, basic cleaning tasks, etc.).

o Assist with safe removal of cardboard boxes, broken pallets, or packaging materials after deliveries.

o Support laboratory and general waste segregation and disposal, including chemical waste.

o Assist in the setup of laboratory workspaces and events.

o Assist with asset and inventory management (labelling, tagging, record keeping, etc.).

o Help receive, unpack, and store deliveries and stock.

• Report any facility maintenance issues (leaks, faulty lights, etc.) to the rest staff responsible.

• Willing to work reliably on a flexible work schedule, Monday - Friday and some weekends or as pre-planned on public holidays, to meet the demands of the AMITD platform.



Inherent requirements:

• Grade 10 on NQF Level 2 (attach proof).

• Valid South African driver’s license (attach proof).

• Relevant experience related to the duties and responsibilities.



Recommendations:

• Grade 12 Certificate on NQF Level 4 (attach proof).

• Multilingualism will be an advantage including local vernacular languages.

• Knowledge of the map of South Africa.

• A valid South African passport (attach proof).

• Code 10 (C1) (attach proof).

• Public driving permit (PDP)(attach proof).

• Five (5) years relevant working experience as a driver and executing general AMITD duties as requested.

• Be willing to undertake extensive travelling - national and regional.

• Must be willing to learn, follow instructions, and adapt to changing work demands and environments.

• Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and always following all laboratory safety protocols and procedures.

Salary:

The annual remuneration package, including benefits is R113 394.47 per annum , depending on the budget available for the position, relevant work experience and qualifications.
