Boilermaker (6-Month Contract) – Northern Suburbs, Cape TownEngineering / Fabrication / ManufacturingProject DepartmentFull-time | On-site | Fixed-Term ContractOur client is an internationally established manufacturing company based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town, seeking a qualified and experienced Boilermaker to join their Projects Department on a 6-month contract.The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, experience in fabrication and installation, and the ability to work accurately within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key ResponsibilitiesFabrication & Preparation
- Verify that all parts comply with the procurement register and data pack; report any deviations.
- Ensure tools, materials, and equipment are available and in good working order.
- Plan and execute fabrication procedures efficiently.
- Perform material cutting using appropriate tools (bandsaw, cut-off saw, cutting torch, grinder, etc.).
- Execute MIG, TIG, and Arc welding with precision and adherence to standards.
- Drill and slot holes using correct equipment (hand drill, magbase drill, machining tools, etc.).
- Perform machining tasks such as turning, milling, boring, and grinding to achieve specified tolerances.
- Remove sharp edges, burrs, and welding spatter to prepare components for the next phase.
- Perform fitment and alignment of drives, clutches, gears, bearings, motors, pumps, gearboxes, and other components.
- Ensure proper installation and alignment of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct machining and fitting planning, ensuring compliance with drawings and specifications.
Installation & Commissioning
- Plan and execute installation procedures in accordance with engineering drawings and layout plans.
- Install machinery, structural platforms, water systems, and mechanical components as per specifications.
- Conduct testing and commissioning to verify the operation, safety, and performance of installed systems.
- Identify and rectify snags before final handover
- Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.
- Qualified Boilermaker Trade Test Certificate (essential).
- 3–5 years’ post-trade experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport.
- Strong knowledge of fabrication, welding, machining, fitting, and installation practices.
