We are currently recruiting for a Senior Toolmaker on behalf of our client, based in Ottery, Cape Town. The ideal candidate should have a Grade 12 qualification, a minimum N2 in Tool, Jig & Die trade theory, and be Trade Tested (Red Seal) in Tool, Jig & Die making. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) is also required. The role involves a strong understanding of technical drawings, fault-finding, equipment testing, and plastics processing, along with excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Minimum N2 in Tool, Jig & Die trade theory
- Trade Tested (Red Seal) in Tool, Jig & Die Maker (preferable)

DUTIES:
Operate Toolroom & Related Equipment:
- Operate all Toolroom machinery in an efficient, cost-effective, and safe manner.
- Use Toolroom machinery in the production and maintenance of:
- Related components.
- Other parts required by the company.
Manufacture and Repair of Moulds and Related Components:
- Manufacture and repair moulds and related components with accuracy and precision from interpreted drawings.
- Assist and provide input on mould design and manufacturing.
- Carry out fault-finding and troubleshooting on moulds and related components.
- Liaise with management regarding any discrepancies in production or performing allocated tasks.
- Set up and work to schedules that prioritize company commitments as determined by management.
- Keep Toolroom equipment, workspaces, and facilities neat, organized, healthy, and safe at all times.
- Assess the condition of tooling returning from production and trigger work orders as needed.
Reporting and Administration:
- Report as per performance standards and deadlines.
- Be responsible for the machine shop and its contents.
- Keep stock of various machining and cutting tools and maintain them in good working order.
Mentorship:
- Train and mentor Tool, Jig & Die apprentices.
Health and Safety:
- Ensure and enforce that all aspects in the area of responsibility conform to health and safety requirements
- Maintain housekeeping standards in the area of responsibility (e.g., ensure cleanliness of assigned machines and areas).
- Work safely and report safety hazards or issues.
- Report any accidents, incidents, and near misses.
Quality:
- Apply the company’s quality principles and standards
- Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Food Safety System Certification (FSSC):
- Apply the site’s food safety principles and standards.
- Report any food safety hazards or issues to your Supervisor/Manager.
- Comply with and maintain all GMPs in relation to the Company’s FSMS (Food Safety Management System).
Self-Development and Growth:
- Realistically assess your own strengths and development areas and take actions to address weaknesses.
