Description:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Switchboard Operator to handle incoming and outgoing calls in a timely and efficient manner. The successful candidate will be responsible for answering and transferring calls, taking messages, and providing general information to callers. The Switchboard Operator must be able to multitask and prioritize incoming calls to ensure timely communication within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a multi-line switchboard system to facilitate incoming and outgoing calls
- Answer calls promptly and professionally, and transfer calls to appropriate parties
- Take accurate messages and relay them to the appropriate individuals
- Provide information to callers regarding company services, products, and policies
- Maintain a log of incoming and outgoing calls for record-keeping purposes
- Assist with administrative tasks and other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as a switchboard operator or in a similar role preferred
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Excellent multitasking and organizational abilities
- Proficiency in operating a multi-line switchboard system
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure
Working Conditions:
- This position operates in a fast-paced office environment
- Regular hours are typically Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend and evening shifts
- Must be able to work extended hours as needed to handle high call volumes or special events
