Qualifications and skills required:
Diploma or Degree in Accounting/Finance. 35 years experience in accounting and payroll. Proficient in SageOne and SimplePay is advantageous. Strong numerical, organisational and analytical skills. Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation and SARS submissions. Experience preparing management accounts and statutory returns.
Key responsibilities:
Accounting:
Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers and supporting schedules. Process invoices, payments, receipts and journal entries. Reconcile bank accounts, creditors and debtors. Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports. Assist with budgeting, cash flow forecasting and variance analysis. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies. Liaise with auditors, tax practitioners and regulatory authorities. Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE and other statutory returns Assist with daily, weekly and monthly bank payment processes. Payroll Administration:
Process monthly payroll accurately and on time. Maintain employee payroll records including earnings, deductions, benefits and leave. Ensure compliance with SARS regulations, UIF, SDL and other statutory requirements. Prepare and submit EMP201 and EMP501 reconciliations. Handle payroll queries with professionalism and confidentiality. Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll-related journals.
