HVAC Technician
Role and Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance of mechanical operating systems and corrective maintenance of building's interior and exterior as required by visual inspections and work orders
- Perform all proactive preventive maintenance as scheduled
- Responsible for performing monthly inspections and annual maintenance of installed air- and water-cooled chillers up to 1500 tons
- All the instruments associated with production of chilled water and compressed air supply conditioning systems are maintained and repaired by the HVAC technicians.
- All the major renovation and construct projects in any industry or refinery is designed and maintained by these HVAC technicians.
- They must be ready to respond to all the emergency and unscheduled service requests.
- They also manage and monitor all the stocks which are kept for emergency repairs and all these stocks are made available on the request by these technicians.
- All the records of the plants and stocks are maintained by these HVAC technicians and they also ensure the timely delivery of these data to the higher authorities.
- HVAC technician is also required to provide repair and maintenance services at the client location when necessary.
- Responsible for the repair and maintenance of the compressed air supply conditioning equipment used for repairing.
- Maintenance of repair and chilling plant records and submitting them is also another responsibility that a HVAC technician is required to perform.
- The candidate also has the responsibility of bringing any errors or equipment faults that cannot be rectified to the notice of the supervisor immediately.
- Perform scheduled in-depth preventative maintenance and service/repair of HVAC mechanical systems and sub-systems, pneumatic and DDC control systems, air-handling evaporation systems, chillers, rooftop equip., split systems, window units, heating/cooling water circulation systems, relater fans, piping, pumps, and other components
- Understanding of air conditioning principles / systems and the relevant codes and industry standards that govern the maintenance of HVAC equipment
- Responsible for performing maintenance on a variety of HVAC equipment as required by the customer
- Schedulers and material coordinators throughout the maintenance and repair processes to include scheduling the service, providing cost estimates, informing the customer of unexpected repairs and determining customer satisfaction
- Review and analysing system data and developing initial recommendation with Reliability Manager and Operations Manager on any maintenance changes, upgrades, replacements
- Monitor the operation and make adjustments on refrigeration, heat exchanger, HVAC, Repair motors and service A/C systems
- Minimize down time through proactive performance testing and scheduled maintenance
- hot water systems, floor radiant heating systems
- Perform installations, repairs and maintenance on HVAC systems with efficiency so as to achieve a low number of repeated service calls
- Performing clean and checks, which consist of cleaning and washing the ac unit as well as replacing the filter in the furnace.

- Refrigeration: 5 to 6 years
- Technician: 5 to 6 years
- Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning: 5 to 6 years
- Advanced knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration system
- Knowledge of industry requirements
- Familiar with the Microsoft office suite in order to prepare reports, format spread sheets and communicates by email
- Required minimum qualifications
- 5 – 10 years’ on-the-job training experience, preferred
- Appropriate certification and understanding of HVAC systems (Trade Test)
- Performs algebra and/or geometry
- Must be familiar with the use of basic HVAC hand tools
- Basic knowledge of HVAC equipment and its components
- Must be able to familiarize oneself with the Quality Assurance policies and procedures, which relate to the control, storage, and disposition of test specimens
- Valid driver’s license
Desired additional skills/ competencies
