POSITION SUMMARY
The candidate will be working under the direction of the Head accountant and coordinate the daily activities of the accounting staff to quickly and accurately record the revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities of the Company and other entities.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Verifying the accuracy of transactions entered in Evolution for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Bill of materials, Job Costing, Point of Sale, Ware house transfers and VAT.
2. Ensure accurate / timely closure of monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annual accounts.
3. In depth understanding of month end reconciliations - Should be able to reconcile medium/large bank accounts (high volume) and Cashbooks and perform set month end close procedures.
4. Monthly Reconciliation of VAT Control account and submitting VAT returns.
5. Reconcile and review monthly balance sheet accounts in order to produce accurate Management Statements monthly to Directors, report on variation from budgeted amounts verses actuals identifying root of cause.
6. Performing Analysis and verification on monthly salary and wages accounts and submitting PAYE returns.
7. Review Monthly Nominal Accounts for allocations and passing journals if necessary.
8. Analysing trial balance accounts identifying errors and raising journals.
9. Initiate monthly stock takes and performing in depth analysis into variations, reporting to Directors on inventory variations.
10. Design and implement checks and controls in all financial transactions relating to AP, AR and inventory.
11. Preparing Financial Statements, audit files and financial reports for Various Entities in Group.
12 Preparing Budgets, Cash flows, forecasts and monitor progress.
13. Ensure ad-hoc audits from CMACS/ and Government agencies are conducted smoothly.
14. Keep abreast with the latest changes in the laws and accordingly suggest changes in day to day working.
15. Resolves complex accounting issues.
16. Supervise, direct, and review the work of the accounting staff.
17. Prepare, analysing, interpreting & presenting of management statements.
18. Other Admin or Financial duties as required.
Requirements:
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: 4 to 5 years
- Excel Pivot: 3 to 4 years
- Month End Reconciliations: 3 to 4 years
AGA (SA) or Professional Accountant(SA) registered with SAICA or SAIPA, respectively.
Minimum of 5 years’ private sector experience in an accountant role.
Fluent in English.
Advance Knowledge of Excel Formulas including Pivot Tables etc.
Sound knowledge of Tax regulations.
Sound knowledge of IFRS, IFRS for SME’s, Companies Act and all Accounting Regulations.
High attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under pressure and meeting deadlines.
Ability to work independently, with little supervision.
Ability to effectively direct and supervise.
Ability to analyse financial data and to prepare accurate reports in a timely manner.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
