Role PurposeThe Financial Controller will be responsible for managing the companys financial operations, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and effective cashflow management.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts. Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors. Develop and maintain robust internal controls, policies, and procedures. Ensure compliance with tax, legal, and regulatory requirements. Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead the annual budget preparation process and monitor performance against budget. Produce rolling forecasts, cashflow projections, and variance analysis. Provide financial modelling and scenario planning to support strategic initiatives Cash & Working Capital Management
Manage day-to-day cashflow, banking, and treasury functions. Monitor debtor collections, stock levels, and supplier terms to optimize working capital. Operational Support
Partner with manufacturing and operations teams to monitor cost of sales, production efficiency, and inventory valuation. Drive improvements in ERP / accounting systems to support reporting and process automation. Provide financial analysis to support pricing decisions, capital investment, and cost reduction initiatives. Qualifications & Experience
Suitable finance & accounting honours level qualification (BCom Hons / CIMA). Minimum 57 years experience in finance roles, with at least 2 years in a controller position. Experience in manufacturing or industrial sectors preferred. Strong understanding of cost accounting, stock control, and margin analysis. Proven track record in cashflow management and financial reporting. Skills & Competencies
Strong technical accounting skills, including IFRS. Good understanding of SA tax laws. Hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to work in an SME environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to partner with both finance and non-finance colleagues. Good report writing skills. High integrity, with the ability to implement and enforce financial discipline. Proficiency in ERP/accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
