Job Description – Theatre TechnicianWe are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Theatre Technician to support orthopaedic procedures and provide in-theatre technical assistance to surgeons and healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will play a vital role in preparing, maintaining, and delivering orthopaedic sets, while ensuring compliance with medical standards and providing support to both the sales and logistics teams. This role requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, and the ability to perform effectively in high-pressure theatre environments.
Key Responsibilities
Cover and scrub for theatre cases.
Prepare, pack, and check sets and implants in the warehouse prior to hospital delivery.
Provide technical and operational support to the sales team during procedures.
Assist with stock counting, stock control, and inventory management.
Gain and maintain knowledge of the orthopaedic field, including regulatory and compliance standards.
Adhere to ethical, compliance, and confidentiality requirements in line with industry standards.
Maintain continuous training in surgical techniques, instrumentation, and implants.
Deliver orthopaedic sets to clients within the Western Cape and coordinate delivery for clients outside the region.
Assist with cleaning, maintenance, and replenishment of orthopaedic sets and components.
Support the booking of procedures and ensure compliance with relevant SOPs and management instructions.
Accurately complete and submit all required paperwork.
Travel to other territories as required to provide theatre support.
Requirements:
Key RequirementsBS/BA in a relevant field preferred, or equivalent experience (Nursing qualification an advantage).
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the Orthopaedic Trauma field, ideally with theatre experience.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Strong relationship-building skills; experience with orthopaedic surgeons and hospitals is beneficial.
Comfortable working in emergency and operating room environments.
Valid driver’s license and own reliable transportation.
Willingness to work weekends, after hours, public holidays, and be available on-call.
