Description:
A leading logistics and cold storage company in Durban is seeking a dedicated Food Safety Coordinator to join their team. The successful candidate will monitor and oversee compliance with food safety standards, maintain HACCP systems, conduct audits, and ensure regulatory readiness. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience in food safety within logistics or cold storage, who can drive performance excellence while upholding the highest safety and hygiene standards.
Duties & Responsibilities

Food Safety Management
• Monitor and maintain compliance with HACCP, FSSC 22000, GMP, and SANS standards.
• Oversee food safety programs, traceability systems, sanitation, and environmental testing.
• Manage food safety documentation, reporting, and corrective action plans. -
Auditing & Compliance
• Conduct internal audits and support external audit readiness.
• Assess supplier compliance and incoming goods against safety standards.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, health inspectors, and auditors. -
Training & Awareness
• Train staff on food safety, hygiene practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Promote a culture of food safety and ensure adherence to company policies and values. -
Performance Monitoring
• Identify risks in cold chain and storage processes, and implement preventative measures.
• Monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs) and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Use digital systems to track compliance, reporting, and performance metrics. -
Continuous Improvement
• Stay current with food safety legislation and industry best practices.
• Support cross-functional teams in driving process improvements.
• Ensure operational excellence in fast-paced logistics environments.
Minimum Requirements
-
Matric and Diploma or Degree in Food Technology or a related field.

2–5 years’ experience in food safety within cold storage or logistics.
-
Strong knowledge of HACCP, FSSC 22000, GMP, and SANS standards.
-
Experience with cold chain monitoring, traceability systems, and regulatory compliance.

Proficiency with MS Office, logistics software, and WMS tools.
-
Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work independently or in teams.
