Job Title: Senior Toolmaker L4Location: Honeydew, Johannesburg, South Africa
A leading plastic injection moulding company is looking for an experienced Senior Toolmaker L4 with strong experience in troubleshooting moulds, CNC programming, and working with EDM machines to join their team in Honeydew, Johannesburg . This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated toolmaking professional to ensure the production process runs smoothly and efficiently by creating, maintaining, and repairing moulds. Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and fix mould defects.
- Program CNC machines using CAD/CAM systems like SolidWorks, Edgecam, or Mastercam .
- Work on EDM machines.
- Perform maintenance on moulds and other machinery in the toolroom.
- Dismantle, repair, and reassemble moulds.
- Design and create production jigs, fixtures, and templates.
- Inspect completed moulds for defects.
- Conduct test runs of new or modified moulds.
- Verify the correct operation of moulds across hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Utilise precision measuring tools like micrometers, callipers, and gauges.
- Maintain accurate records and digital systems, such as timesheets and inventory.
Requirements:
- Qualified Toolmaker (Trade Test certified).
- N2-N6 Mechanical or Engineering certificate.
- Minimum of 5 years of tooling experience, including CAD/CAM applications.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Strong understanding of CNC programming, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience with heat treatment processes and fault diagnosis.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Proficient in reading and writing English.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental (OHSE) standards.
