Description:
A leading food manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager with strong expertise in plant maintenance, mechanical and electrical systems, and people management to join their team in Cato Ridge. The successful candidate will oversee the full engineering function on-site, including preventative maintenance, equipment reliability, process improvement, and leadership of a multidisciplinary team. The role includes responsibility for compliance with statutory regulations, budget management, and project implementation.
Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the maintenance and engineering function across the facility
-
Develop and oversee preventative maintenance schedules to maximize equipment uptime
-
Ensure compliance with Food Safety, Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations
-
Implement continuous improvement strategies to reduce downtime and increase efficiency
-
Manage engineering budgets, including capital expenditure and cost control
-
Plan and supervise installation, calibration, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment
-
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks in engineering operations
-
Lead and develop a high-performing team including Maintenance Managers, Engineers, and Supervisors
-
Oversee internal and external projects, including commissioning and decommissioning of equipment
-
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions
-
Maintain compliance with ISO and company standards, including logging and closing off non-conformances
-
Collaborate with cross-functional departments such as Production, Supply Chain, SHEQ, HR, and Finance
-
Ensure systems such as Syspro, Jarrison, SharePoint, and Shopware are used effectively
Requirements:

BTech or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
-
GCC (Government Certificate of Competency) – essential
-
Minimum of 5 years’ management experience in a manufacturing environment
-
Strong plant-level engineering knowledge and proven leadership experience
-
Experience with P&L management within the maintenance function
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant ERP/time & attendance systems
-
Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, decision-making, and team development skills
-
Familiarity with PLC systems and automation would be advantageous
