Electrical Engineer: Renewable Energy Engineer (Pr Eng) vacancy in Somerset-West, Cape Town. Multi-disciplinary team of professionals in the field of utility-scale Photovoltaic and Concentrated Solar Projects. The candidate will be working with a team of enthusiastic experts to design, develop, implement, and manage a range of renewable energy projects. BSc/BEng (Electrical Engineering) or MSc/MEng (Renewable Energy). Minimum 3 years of working experience in PV Project Environment. Minimum qualifications and experience:
- BSc/BEng or MEng/MSc (Renewable Energy or Electrical Engineering)
- Registration as a Professional Engineer
- 3+ years' experience in a utility-scale PV project environment.
- Experience in large-scale CSP and Molten Salt storage projects will be advantageous.
- 5+ years' experience in the design and implementation of electrical systems in large electrical projects, including the design and implementation of medium and high voltage substations.
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation for electrical installations, construction projects, network, process control and data exchange related installations.
- Understanding of the relevant technical codes, regulations and standards relating to the development of renewable energy projects in Europe will be advantageous.
- Designing PV systems using PVSol, PVSyst, PVCase, SAM or other PV design software.
- Support projects by providing design layout, system specification, cost estimates and technical reports.
- Conducting technical site surveys.
- Support the commercial team in the preparation of technical submission documents and tenders, from a technical perspective.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of the latest applicable Electrical Codes.
- Understand the application of BS 7671 wiring regulation and IET CoP for solar PV installations.
- Managing the EPC & O&M tender preparation and following contract negotiations
- Providing technical input from initial assessment through to technical and economic feasibility
- Assessing technical risks and proposing mitigation strategies to reduce risk over project CAPEX, OPEX and revenues.
- Following up on project construction, commissioning, and acceptance.
