Description:
A top-tier industrial manufacturing company based in Cape Town is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their high-performing engineering team. This role will focus on advanced machine design, maintenance support, and continuous improvement across mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in industrial machinery design, preventative maintenance strategies, and project leadership.
Duties & Responsibilities

Design complex industrial machinery, including structural components, sheet metal parts, and large-scale mechanical assemblies

Produce detailed technical drawings, BOMs, and comprehensive manufacturing/assembly instructions
-
Execute quality assurance on mechanical work and drive predictive maintenance efforts
-
Maintain and schedule tasks using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
-
Collaborate with departments to resolve equipment failures and propose technical solutions
-
Ensure all engineering activities comply with safety regulations and internal quality standards
-
Generate technical reports on failures, preventive actions, and equipment performance
-
Support continuous improvement initiatives within design and operational frameworks
Minimum Requirements
-
BSc/BEng/BTech in Mechanical Engineering
-
8–10 years’ experience in maintenance or production environments
-
Proficiency in CAD and computer-aided engineering software
-
Strong practical exposure to machinery maintenance or manufacturing processes
-
Advantageous experience in hydraulic system design and electrical control systems
-
Proven project and team leadership capability
-
Valid driver’s license and strong administrative proficiency
-
Familiarity with OHS Act and safety procedures
-
Hands-on experience working with a CMMS system
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
