Introduction
A leading manufacturing group in the FMCG sector is seeking a dynamic Operations Manager to oversee their Converting facility based in Bellville. This role reports to the General Manager: Coastal and offers a great opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced production environment.
Main Purpose
To ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the Converting Factory while driving continuous improvement, meeting business and customer requirements, and developing human capital within the plant.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the factory operations team to meet safety, quality, productivity, and cost targets

Champion a culture of continuous improvement and ensure KPI achievement
-
Collaborate with engineering to ensure maintenance best practices are applied
-
Prepare and manage operational and capital budgets
-
Submit business reports and documentation as required
-
Maintain control of operational costs and report on variances
-
Enforce SHEQ standards and ensure compliance with statutory requirements
-
Oversee product quality and implement quality control systems
-
Ensure effective quality assurance aligned with customer requirements
-
Coach and develop team members for improved performance and succession planning
-
Drive high-performance culture, creativity, and alignment with company values
Requirements
Qualifications:

BSc / BTech in Engineering or equivalent
-
Diploma or Degree in Pulp & Paper (advantageous)
Experience:
-
Minimum 5 years in a senior management role within the Paper/Tissue industry or similar FMCG manufacturing environment
-
Strong background in operations, safety, quality, and people management
-
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles preferred
-
Risk management, project management, and strong problem-solving ability
-
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
