Job Opening: Online Store Assistant (Remote, Contract-Based)
Location: Remote (occasional in-person meetings in Durban)
Position Type: Part-Time / Month-to-Month Contract (Potential for Permanent)
Working Hours: Monday – Friday | 7:30am – 5:00pm
Start Date: 1 Aug - 3 Aug
About the Role:
We’re an IT-focused company looking for a reliable, detail-driven individual with excellent computer skills, strong common sense, and exceptional attention to detail to assist with our online store operations.
No prior experience with Shopify, Wix, or WordPress is required – full training will be provided. This is a remote position, but you may occasionally meet with the director in person, and there may also be virtual team meetings via Google Meet.
We are looking for a female candidate for this role, as the position involves ongoing communication with a variety of customers and professionals, and our current team dynamic and client interaction style has proven to work best with a warm, approachable female presence in this support role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Professionally handle customer queries via live chat
- Transfer specialised queries to the director when necessary
- Create customer quotations and respond to product-related questions
- Work on our Shopify store (full training provided)
- Update and enhance product listings and descriptions
- Learn to install Microsoft Office software and assist customers when needed
- Book and manage courier collections/deliveries
- Liaise with suppliers, professionals, and industry partners
- Fill out forms and documents using PDF editors – printing is not required
- Light graphic design work (optional, but beneficial)
What You’ll Need:
- A laptop with an SSD and fast, stable internet (This will be verified – please do not apply if your device doesn’t meet this requirement)
- Good written communication skills and a strong command of English
- Basic digital know-how and the ability to learn fast
- Experience using a PDF editor (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, Foxit, PDFescape)
- Responsible, trustworthy, and able to self-manage
- A can-do attitude with great common sense – more important to us than formal qualifications
- No Matric or IT certification required
