Job & Company DescriptionsMy client is looking for a Junior Accountant to join their finance team and play a key role in ensuring accurate and efficient financial operations across the business.
As part of their team, you will be responsible for maintaining and processing financial transactions, managing vendor accounts, and supporting day-to-day accounting functions across local and international payments, reconciliations, and reporting.
As a Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for the following:
Match invoices to requisitions, purchase orders, and goods received notes, ensuring accuracy in quantities, quality, description, and pricing. Verify that all requisitions, purchase orders, and invoices are properly authorized and align with company approval limits. Update the daily cash flow forecast to reflect accurate and timely financial data. Use the correct GL and vendor accounts when processing invoices in the Accounts Payable module. Apply the correct VAT treatment on all supplier invoices. Prepare and submit creditors reconciliations and ensure invoices are paid on timeclaiming discounts where applicable. File invoices and supplier documents digitally on the ERP system. Maintain and set up new vendors/creditors on the ERP system. Maintain clean vendor ledgers and a well-managed age analysis. Ensure intercompany loan accounts are accurate and reconciled. Process all vendor payments and perform daily bank reconciliations. Reconcile creditor statements with internal records on a monthly basis. Manage company credit, debit, and petrol card statements, including monthly processing and balancing. Capture supplier and foreign income invoices, and process monthly forex journals and payments. Perform journal entries and handle various ad-hoc accounting tasks as assigned. Oversee staff loan accounts in line with company policies and signed AODs. Verify and process travel and fuel claims weekly. Analyze and reconcile stock payments, including freight and customs charges. Monitor and calculate staff salary increases, and ensure accuracy in provident fund deductions and balances. Liaise with banks regarding queries and updates to account information.
Qualifications:
BCom Accounting degree or similar
Completed articles (SAIPA or similar)
Relevant post article experience will be advantageous
Excel skills: computer literacy required
Sound knowledge in Income Tax Act, VAT Act and Companies Act
In depth knowledge of payroll
