Description
The purpose of this position is conducting responsible and effective shift supervision of production processes and teams, ensuring operational and maintenance requirements are controlled and met at all times.
Qualification Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification registered at NQF Level
- National Certificate Mineral Processing Level 2 or equivalent Minerals Processing qualification
- Valid driver’s licence code B, EB or C1
- Maths and Science will be advantageous
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Process Section Supervisor, within the hydrometallurgical mineral processing industry.
- Experience in froth flotation process operation will be advantageous.
- English language proficiency
- Computer literate in MS Office

- Knowledgeable in the requirements of the MHSA
- Investigate, diagnose problems and breakdowns to determine resource requirements
- Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations and analyse previous shift information
- Coordinate and monitor equipment availability to ensure adherence to production parameters
- Report equipment efficiencies according to production requirements
- Communicate equipment availabilities and changes to relevant stakeholder to minimise production delays
- Attend to breakdowns immediately to minimize downtime
- Ensure adherence to the specified process parameters within the respective sections
- Identify causes of spillage in the plant and generate suggestions to eliminate the spillage
- Ensure adherence to Process Standards and Procedures, COP Master File, SHEQ and legislative requirements
- Continuously monitor production information to ensure the attainment of shift objectives
- Perform administrative duties to ensure record accuracy and availability
- Ensure adherence to Client / WCPO production quality standards and specifications according to production requirements
- Ensure adherence to client quality requirements by monitoring laboratory feedback and ensuring the implementation of corrective measures
- Continuously monitor the production process to ensure adherence to ISO and legislative standards / requirements
- Manage subordinate’s key performance areas by setting and monitoring performance standards and taking action to correct deviations to achieve the section's objectives
- Plan and coordinate the section's workload and set and adjust individual objectives
- Train, guide, inform and generally counsel in matters of technical knowledge, to any subordinate allocated for training purposes
- Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets and controls expenditure within approved parameters
- Communicate and liaise with the Plant Manager / Process Superintendent / Section Supervisor / Safety Representatives / Safety Officer / Engineering co-workers
