Description:
Installation, moving of, maintenance and repairs of a wide variety of machines that are used in the printing industry.
Precise installation and testing of the equipment to ensure that it functions in the way it is supposed to be operated
Work very closely with the engineers and the electricians to ensure the success of the installation.
Moving equipment when expansion is necessary in a company, or when equipment needs to be re arranged.
Knowledge of the various pieces of equipment is required, and safety must always be an underlying aspect of every job.
Maintenance of or repairs to machines form a very important part of the work and could be done on the machine or in the workshop where it may be necessary or install new parts.
Printer’s mechanics have to be very aware of time, as it is very costly to have a machine not producing for a long time.
Maintain detailed records of all printer service activities and maintain an organized inventory of spare parts
Install, configure, and upgrade printer hardware and software as needed
Technical and a good knowledge of modern testing equipment will be an integral part of the training.
Stay up to date with the latest printer technologies, techniques, and industry best practices
The work is normally done on the equipment or in the workshop, which can be noisy.
Overtime is frequently required to be worked due to the urgency of the work.
Requirements:
Matric with Printing Trade test Qualification.
5 - 7 years on the job experience within a printing and packaging industry.
5 - 7 years of experience as a Printer Technician or in a similar role
Knowledge of printing presses, including the sheet fed process and finishing process.
Knowledge of Gravure Printing Principles and or Litho Principles.
Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate and interact at all levels.
Fully computer literature.
Ability to work shifts.
Able to work overtime when required.
Have good problem-solving skills.
