Description:
RPO Recruitment's client, a prominent building contractor in Cape Town, is currently on the lookout for a qualified and skilled Quantity Surveyor who can join their dynamic team as soon as possible and contribute positively towards the success of various building projects they are involved in.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects
- Manage project costs from inception to completion, ensuring the project stays within budget
- Analyse and review project plans, drawings, and specifications to provide accurate cost forecasts
- Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and contractors
- Monitor and control expenditure, identifying potential cost savings
- Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and quality
- Prepare and submit interim valuations and final accounts
- Advise on procurement strategies and methodologies
- Ensure compliance with all legal, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders
Requirements:
- National Diploma in Building/BTech degree in Quantity Surveying or similar
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for reputable building contractors on residential developments
- Proficiency in CCS Candy, MS Excel, Smartsheet, and DimX
- Proven experience in managing costs on large-scale residential construction projects
- Experience with cost estimation, budgeting, and financial management
- Any experience in assisting with budgets and cost for managing agents will be advantageous
- Strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of relevant construction laws and regulations
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills
