Description:

RPO Recruitment's client, a prominent building contractor in Cape Town, is currently on the lookout for a qualified and skilled Quantity Surveyor who can join their dynamic team as soon as possible and contribute positively towards the success of various building projects they are involved in.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects
  • Manage project costs from inception to completion, ensuring the project stays within budget
  • Analyse and review project plans, drawings, and specifications to provide accurate cost forecasts
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and contractors
  • Monitor and control expenditure, identifying potential cost savings
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and quality
  • Prepare and submit interim valuations and final accounts
  • Advise on procurement strategies and methodologies
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders

Requirements:

  • National Diploma in Building/BTech degree in Quantity Surveying or similar
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for reputable building contractors on residential developments
  • Proficiency in CCS Candy, MS Excel, Smartsheet, and DimX
  • Proven experience in managing costs on large-scale residential construction projects
  • Experience with cost estimation, budgeting, and financial management
  • Any experience in assisting with budgets and cost for managing agents will be advantageous
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of relevant construction laws and regulations
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
