Description:
Role Overview:
An exciting opportunity is available for a detail-oriented Junior Design Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team focused on pump-related products. This role will be responsible for leading the drafting and design of 2D and 3D mechanical drawings, reviewing technical specifications, and supporting cross-functional teams through the full design and production cycle. The position plays a key part in ensuring design accuracy, manufacturing efficiency, and engineering compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Design and draft detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings using Autodesk design packages.
-
Approve and amend machining and fabrication drawings to ensure alignment with manufacturing and quality standards.
-
Perform engineering calculations related to load analysis, fluid dynamics, centre of gravity, bearing selection, and general mechanical design.
-
Oversee drawing office administration including revision control, archiving, and transmittal management.
-
Finalise general and sectional arrangement drawings for internal records and client submission.
-
Lead design compliance and dimensional checks for pumps and components.
-
Mentor draughtsman and ensure design integrity across deliverables.
-
Support engineering change requests and integrate updates into production schedules.
-
Coordinate with production, sales, and quality teams to address design queries and resolve technical issues.
-
Maintain digital and manual drawing records for easy traceability and reference.
-
Evaluate and enhance existing products with a focus on cost-efficiency and manufacturability.
-
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for design and production optimisation.
-
Assist fabrication and machine shop personnel with technical interpretation of drawings.
-
Ensure proper creation, maintenance, and accuracy of Bills of Materials (BoMs).
