Description:
An established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced and hands-on SMT Supervisor to manage its Surface Mount Technology (SMT) department situated in Pinetown, KZN. This is a key role in a fast-paced electronics production environment where quality, precision, and leadership are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily SMT operations and meet production schedules
- Assign tasks to operators, inspectors, and material handlers
- Approve first-off builds and conduct quality checks in line with IPC standards
- Ensure compliance with internal SOPs, industry regulations, and customer specifications
- Manage SMT machine setup, programming, and preventive maintenance
- Lead daily production meetings and track performance against OTIF goals
- Supervise and develop a team of SMT Operators, Technicians, and Inspectors
- Collaborate with engineering to drive process and equipment improvements
- Ensure safety standards, housekeeping, and audit readiness are maintained
Requirements:
- Diploma or degree in Electronics, Manufacturing, or related field (preferred)
- 3–5 years of supervisory experience in SMT or electronics manufacturing
- Strong technical knowledge of SMT equipment, reflow soldering, AOI, and programming
- Familiarity with IPC standards and quality control systems
- Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and production planning
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Flexible to work overtime as needed
