A market-leading manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join their company in Hammarsdale, KZN. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge, strong leadership, and a track record of managing plant maintenance and engineering teams in high-output FMCG or processing environments.
Duties & Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day plant maintenance, including preventative and breakdown repairs
-
Drive uptime, efficiency, and long-term asset health through best-practice maintenance strategies
-
Supervise foremen, artisans, and contractors; ensure safe and compliant execution of work
-
Oversee capital projects and major plant upgrades, from planning to implementation
-
Collaborate with planners and plant engineers to meet timelines and budget objectives
-
Ensure all new installations comply with safety, health, and quality standards
-
Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team
-
Manage succession planning, mentoring, and training initiatives across disciplines
-
Foster a culture of safety, efficiency, and accountability
-
Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, safety standards, and audit requirements
-
Enforce SHEQ standards across all engineering activities
-
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent incidents
-
Manage engineering budgets, report variances, and implement cost-saving initiatives
-
Control asset registers, stock levels, and procurement processes
-
Monitor service levels of external suppliers and contractors
Minimum Requirements
-
Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
-
GCC Factories essential
-
8+ years’ relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory/management role
-
Strong experience in project execution, plant maintenance, and engineering systems
-
Deep understanding of mechanical, refrigeration, and electrical operations
-
Proven leadership skills with a strong focus on people management and compliance
-
Must be hands-on, detail-oriented, and solutions driven
