We have a client with an amazing opportunity based in South Africa (Free State / Eastern Cape / Johannesburg)
Role: Project Development Specialist (Renewables)
Industry: Renewable Energy & Project Development
Level: Senior Specialist
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in renewable energy project development (all stages to ready-to-build)
- Proven experience with permitting processes for renewable energy projects
- Strong technical and business understanding of land acquisition and development processes
- Experience in renewable energy sectors (solar, wind, energy storage) with large-scale PV and wind project focus
- Knowledge of basic real estate legal principles for land acquisition navigation
- Experience working with local administration and regulatory authorities
- Understanding of grid connection processes and technical requirements
- Proficiency in English (written and oral communication)
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel up to 80% (primarily eastern South Africa)
- Experience with Eskom and other key stakeholders in the South African energy sector
- Ability to work across time zones and flexible hours
Personal Attributes:
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Confident in public speaking and negotiation with landowners and community representatives
- Adaptable to remote work environments and international team collaboration
- Results-driven with ability to drive projects from greenfield to ready-to-build status

- Collaborative team player who can support and mentor colleagues
