A long-standing engineering company—operating successfully for over 30 years—is seeking a hands-on and experienced Senior Workshop Manager to join their management team. This is a key leadership role for someone who leads from the front, works shoulder-to-shoulder with their team, and thrives in a dynamic, project-driven environment.
Looking for a solid background in general engineering and machining with strong operational oversight and leadership skills. A practical understanding of rotating machinery is essential, and while a formal qualification (N4–N6) is desirable, proven experience and the ability to manage production efficiently will carry more weight.
Minimum Requirements:
N4 to N6 in Mechanical or Production Engineering (or similar) preferred
A minimum of 8 - 10 years management experience in general engineering, machining and workshop operations
Strong exposure to rotating equipment essential
Proven experience in leading and managing production teams
Background in quality assurance and ISO standards compliance
Experience with procurement, supplier liaison, and inventory control
Strong planning, scheduling, and resource management capabilities
Willingness to perform site visits when required
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Valid driver’s license and own vehicle
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations in the workshop, ensuring optimal resource allocation
Enforce quality control processes and maintain ISO/QA compliance across all production activities
Manage procurement processes, supplier relationships, and effective stock control
Lead production and planning meetings; monitor timelines, resolve issues, and support technical execution
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to workshop teams
Liaise closely with clients and internal departments to ensure project requirements are met on time and to standard
Support continuous improvement efforts across production, safety, and workflow systems
