Description:
Key Duties & Responsibilities Electronic Filing Systems: document management or saving and organizing drafts within a structured electronic system.Diary Management: electronic legal diary systems, managing deadlines, court appearances, and appointments within our firm.Billing Practices: experience in time recording, generating bills, or understanding legal billing practices. Litigation and Dispute Resolution:Represent clients in civil, commercial litigation matters.Draft legal pleadings, summonses, notices, affidavits, and heads of argument.Attend court proceedings, arbitrations, and mediations.Legal Drafting and Advisory:Draft and review contracts, legal opinions, letters of demand, and settlement agreements.Provide sound legal advice to clients across sectors.Interpret and apply relevant legislation, case law, and regulatory requirements.Client Management:Meet with clients to take instructions, discuss strategy, and update on progress.Build and maintain strong client relationships and act in their best interests.Bill and manage client accounts according to firm policies.Compliance and Ethics:Ensure all legal work complies with relevant laws, professional conduct rules, and ethical guidelines.Keep up to date with legislative changes and developments in the legal field.Administrative and Reporting Duties:Maintain accurate file management and case records.Submit regular progress reports to supervising attorneys or partners.Manage deadlines, court calendars, and filing procedures. Education & Legal Requirements:
- LLB Degree from a recognized South African university.
- Completed articles of clerkship (2 years) at a registered law firm or legal practice.
- Successfully passed the board exams administered by the Legal Practice Council (LPC).
- Admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
- Registered and in good standing with the LPC.
- Experience with legal practice software LawPractice
