Maintenance Technician (Mechanical)
Location: Atlantis, Western Cape
Salary: R55,000 per month (CTC)
Job Type: Full-time | Permanent
An established food production company based in Atlantis, Western Cape, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in mechanical maintenance within a food or FMCG manufacturing environment and be committed to maintaining high standards of reliability, safety, and operational excellence
Requirements:
- Trade-tested Mechanical Artisan with 10+ years of relevant experience
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Strong experience in FMCG or food manufacturing environments
- Exposure to high-speed packaging equipment (advantageous)
- Familiarity with welding, pneumatics, fabrication, and fluid systems
- Basic understanding of electrical systems including PLCs, VFDs, and automation controls
- Valid unendorsed driver’s license and own transport
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required
Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance and repairs on all mechanical equipment and installations.
- Ensure the effective execution and timely completion of maintenance activities.
- Take ownership of the maintenance process and guide troubleshooting efforts.
- Promote and uphold Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Maintain and manage an effective spare parts inventory.
- Support the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of all equipment.
- Develop, document, and improve maintenance procedures.
- Enforce factory protocols and best practices aligned with food-grade standards.
- Drive continuous improvement and participate in root cause analysis initiatives.
- Respond promptly to equipment emergencies and follow safety procedures.
- Perform tasks in support of Food Safety and Quality Control systems (FSMS & QC).
