RPO Recruitment’s client, a leading building and civil contractor in South Africa is currently looking to hire an experienced Civil Estimator who can join their team in Johannesburg as soon as possible.
Responsibilities:
- Provide an effective and efficient estimating function
- Prepare decision to tender for Management approval
- Consults with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates
- Provide cost effective tender pricing
- Analyse drawings and any special requirements for tenders
- Sources quality and cost-effective materials and resources
- Develop accurate and competitive tender submissions in line with tender deadlines
- Acquire and analyse tender documents
- Implement procurement and bill of quantities processes
- Review material and labour requirements and provide cost effective materials
- Obtain specialist quotations where required
- Verify supplier and subcontractor quotations and/or qualifications
- Quantify materials required per supplier
- Issue any specifications or drawings in consultation with Buyer
- Schedule work to be executed in order to determine the team size and duration of activities required for the tender
- Estimate unit cost rates for the tender
- Assess individual billed items
- Calculate all labour rates, materials and plant content
- Conduct comparative analysis of material suppliers and sub-contractor quotations
- Consult with other stakeholders regarding possible cost-effective solutions
- Obtain feedback from site to determine market rates
- Comply with all contractual, legislative, and statutory obligations
- Build and manage stakeholder relationships
- Ensure placement on client tender lists
- Keep abreast of industry trends
Requirements:
- National Diploma in Building/BTech in Quantity Surveying or similar qualification in the built environment
- Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in a civil estimating role
- Solid proficiency in CCS Candy and MS Office
- Ability to lead multiple tender submissions through the effective management of the estimating function within the firm
