Description:
A dynamic and service-oriented business management consultancy is looking for an experienced Credit Risk Advisor with strong analytical, leadership, and stakeholder management skills to join their team in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and mitigating client credit risks, advising on strategic financial exposure, and managing all aspects of debt recovery and insurance engagement.
Responsibilities:

Conduct detailed credit risk assessments and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies.

Manage a small team including Debt Recovery Specialists and Assistants, supporting their training, coaching, and development.

Visit clients, debtors, attorneys, and insurers to manage financial risk and maintain strong client relationships.

Conduct assessments of annual financial statements and advise clients on financial stability and risk.
-
Provide input on insurance coverage, policy reviews, and claim support processes.
-
Monitor and manage client accounts, vet new business accounts, and recommend legal or strategic actions for recovery.
-
Facilitate and attend business rescue and liquidation meetings; liaise with attorneys and practitioners.

Prepare regular reporting for internal and external stakeholders, tracking progress and emerging risks.

Promote and cross-sell the company’s full range of financial and risk-related services.
Requirements:
-
Degree or diploma in Finance, Economics, Law, or Business Management.
-
3–5 years’ experience in a credit, financial, or risk advisory environment, preferably with exposure to debtors, creditors, and credit insurance.

Strong knowledge of credit risk, financial analysis, and legal processes related to debt recovery.
-
Analytical thinker with excellent attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.
-
Able to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
-
Experience leading small teams and coaching junior staff is advantageous.

Proficient in using M-Files or similar workflow/document management systems.

Must be confident in interpreting financial statements, assessing risk on-site, and advising clients accordingly.
