Our client, specializing in outsourced accounting and financial services for clients in South Africa, and the United States is seeking an Accountant in Port Elizabeth who is able to work flexible hours during the US tax season (Nov - March)

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping services to US-based clients, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and client-specific requirements. This role requires strong analytical skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Accountant (US Clients)We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to handle the day-to-day accounting operations for our U.S.-based clients. This role requires strong knowledge of U.S. accounting standards, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple clients in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform daily bookkeeping and accounting tasks, including:
Bank and credit card reconciliations Accounts payable and receivable General ledger maintenance Month-end and year-end closings Inventory and fixed asset management Equity and intercompany account reconciliations Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and IRS regulations Communicate directly with U.S. clients via email and video conferencing Collaborate with internal teams to improve processes and client service Utilize accounting platforms such as QuickBooks (Online/Desktop), Xero, and other cloud-based tools

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 23 years of accounting experience, preferably with U.S. clients Proficient in QuickBooks, Xero, and Microsoft Excel Strong English communication skills (written and verbal) Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines High attention to detail with strong organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in an outsourced accounting or BPO environment Familiarity with U.S. tax forms and filings (e.g., 1099s, W-9s) Professional certification (SAIPA, SAICA, CPA or equivalent) is a plus
